Our team took part in a Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) session focused on the proper use and handling of essential landscaping tools and equipment. Through practical demonstrations and real-time guidance, they gained hands-on experience and learned how to operate each tool and equipment safely and responsibly.

Training like this helps build confidence, reduce risks and prevent accidents that can happen from cutting corners. It’s all about staying alert, supporting one another and putting safety first every step of the way.

While tools and machinery help our gardeners and workers to focus on the task at hand and get the job done quickly and efficiently, they also pose significant risks of injury.

To ensure the greatest possible protection for employees in the workplace, Nature conducted a Safety Induction Course to help establish and maintain a safe work environment.

Along with eliminating work hazards through controls and good work practices, a training session was conducted to explain, highlight and demonstrate how Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn to reduce exposure to occupational mishaps that can cause workplace injuries. It makes the difference between being safely covered or dangerously exposed.

As part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, Nature invited paediatric cancer patients and their families from LOVE, NILS to our retail store, Arbour last Saturday.

In line with the Mother’s Day weekend, the children and their families had a fun time learning about plants and how to build a pot with love for their mum. It warms our hearts to see how we planted joy in their hearts, budding hope and growing smiles.

A childhood cancer diagnosis is traumatic and the psychosocial effects on the child and family are significant during treatment and beyond.

In collaboration with Arbour and naturalGRO, Nature aims to fundraise to support and keep children and caregivers socially engaged, hopeful and resilient. Supporting the cause, Arbour and naturalGRO will be donating 10% of our proceeds from our sales on 15 ^th – 21 ^st May 2023.

“Keppel Marina East Desalination Plant is a vital national water-sufficiency infrastructure project that features a lush green rooftop to serve as a communal space and pitstop in Singapore’s Park Connector Network.

The architecture and landscape design went against the traditional industrial look of preceding desalination plants, featuring a 20,000 sqm open green space atop an oval rooftop that serves as an observation deck for the underground treatment facilities.”

Just when we thought 2017 and 2018 were great years, 2019 proved to be an even more awesome year for Nature Landscapes. We won a total of 15 awards at LIAS 2019, including 2 Best of Category and 6 Gold. It was indeed a testimony of our continuing efforts to strive for high standards in all our works.

Looking back, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all our valued clients and partners. Your feedback and support has allowed us to uphold the standards that we have achieved today and also drives us to improve ourselves to do better tomorrow. This means embracing our push for innovation and technology such as digital jobsheet, automation and dashboards for management information.

The Nature Landscapes 38th Anniversary Dinner and Dance was held at Jubilee Restaurant on Friday, 25 October 2019. This year's theme was "Kampung Night", alluding to the kampung spirit that helped build the company's 38 year journey.

All came in their best dazzling costumes. Mr Michael Teh addressed the crowd and spoke of the success that Nature has achieved in its 38 years. He also spoke of the plans that he hop to strive for in the next 38 years to come.

Lending a helping hand is not as hard as it seems. With the collective effort of an extraordinary team, we spent the weekend building a home for the orang asli in our neighbouring country Kuala Lumpur.

Together with facilitators from the EpicHomes MY, we built a new home dedicated to Mr Herian and Mdm Aishah. From structure to wall, roofing to windows, all were done with by hand and light machinery.

Nature Landscapes at the IgnITE Skills Challenge 2019

Organised by the Institute of Technical Education (ITE), the IgnITE Skills Challenge is a yearly affair aimed at engaging students in vocational skills, and foster a deeper understanding of the relevant technical courses by ITE. More than 1,000 participants from various Secondary Schools attended the national competition, with a select few moving past the preliminary round into the finals. Students learnt basic handling skills of the plants sponsored by Nature Landscapes, its growing media and the use of a Vertical Garden Panel. These skills were then put to the challenge as they have to repot and complete a Vertical Garden creation within a stipulated time. We are grateful to have been part of such a great event, and congratulations to all participating schools.

Jointly organized by LIAS and NParks' CUGE, Green Thumbs 2019 is a celebration of the development journey and successes of Singapore's landscape industry.

This year, it was held at Choa Chu Kang Park on the 21st April 2019. Participants were greeted with an array of Professional Skills Competitions, friendly games and sports, industry booths and hands-on exhibitions open to public. In addition, the Singapore Arboriculture Society hosted their Singapore Tree Climbing Competition, which allowed tertiary students a chance to demonstrate their skills. The event was also graced by guest-of-honour, Senior Parliament Secretary MOE & MOM and Mayor of South West District, Ms Low Yen Ling.

Meet the women behind some of Nature's most beautiful gardens.

From irrigating, planting, designing to building landscapes and hardscapes, women are reaping the rewards of their passion in the trade. While it is no longer as male-dominated as before, women have come a long way in the green industry.

"Philippines is an agricultural country," our Senior Horticulturist, Runa , shared. With 47% of prime land dedicated to growing food crop and other natural landscapes, she took her nation's pride and knowledge over to live and work here in Singapore, another green city. When asked what their favorite part of the landscaping industry is, there was a resounding appreciation for being outdoors and with living nature. The satisfaction of turning designs into reality, implementing their creativity and keeping clients happy is "soul-filling", said Jacqueline, Executive Director of LS1 .

The main piece of advice offered is simply to "go for it."

"Don't be intimidated because I think women have proven that they can do this, and we make our mark as well," Runa says. "There's no obstruction at all," in response to encouraging women joining the trade by Kate, our Senior Landscape Designer . The industry allows for job diversity, and can adapt to you as you grow, as long as you remember to keep an open-mind for learning.

So to all the mothers, daughters, sisters and wives around us, today we celebrate you. Happy International Women's Day!

“Sponsoring the implementation of the award-winning, romantic Juliet’s Balcony at the Singapore Garden Festival 2012; we helped designer, Ms Maureen Tan from DP Green Pte Ltd to showcase her balcony concept to garden enthusiasts.

Inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo courtship scene at Juliet’s balcony, Ms Tan created the lovely ambience by a brilliant blend of interiorscape with plants and flowers. Wooden panel wall, water-coloured art-pieces, vibrant exotic plants and a picture-framed green wall helped to revive the fond memories of Shakespeare’s romantic story”.

Total Defence Awards 2012

We are pleased to be the recipient of the Total Defence Awards 2012 (Civil Resource Owners) in the category – 3rd Tier: Meritorious Defence Partner Award (MDPA) from the Ministry of Defence. Presented during the inaugural ‘Total Defence Symposium’ with the 45th year of National Service, the awards ceremony was held on 2 July 2012 at Fairmont Singapore.

Being one of the recognised employers contributing towards Singapore’s national defence, this annual awards recognise all supportive employers who incorporate NS-friendly policies in their workplace, enabling employees to carry out their NS commitments with a peace of mind.

Nature Cares- Food Connect @ South West

As part of Nature’s corporate social responsibility, we participated with the Landscape Industry Assocation (Singapore) [LIAS] in its contribution to the charity food programme, Food Connect @ South West. In its 2nd launch, the ceremony is staged at Telok Blangah Community Club on 22 June 2012, graced by Mr Lim Hng Kiang, Minister for Trade & Industry with host, Dr Amy Khor, Mayor of South West District.

First launched in September 2010, this programme is a collaborated initiative by the Singapore Food Manufacturer's Association (SFMA) and Community Development Council (CDC) to raise funds, with CDC dollar-to-dollar matching, to help needy families and vulnerable elderly in the South West district.

We are indeed contented to play our humble part in this philanthropic programme for our community.

Nature Cares- Jamiyah Children's Home

Nature Landscapes is glad to join CapitaLand Hope Foundation, CapitaLand's philanthropic arm in its latest effort for one of its beneficiaries – Jamiyah Children’s Home on 7 May 2012.

Putting our core competency to good cause, we helped build the 'CapitaLand Garden of Hope'- a tropical fruit and vegetable garden for the underprivileged children to cultivate their interest in nature and edible garden. The growing produce include pandan leaves, basil, curry leaves, pepper mint leaves, chilli padi, blue ginger, lime tree, langsat, chiku, mango, etc..

To mark former President S R Nathan’s new appointment as the Foundations’ Chairman, he visited the new facility of Jamiyah Children’s Home at Guillemard Crescent and planted a Jambu Ayer tree along with a $40,000 cheque for the Home.

This is part of our volunteer and social contribution efforts to bring nature closer to the disadvantaged members of our society.

SIA-Elmich Seminar on Specifying and Designing Living Wall Systems

Jointly organized by the Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) and Elmich Pte Ltd on 19 April 2012 at SIA premise, the seminar focused on living walls systems, design, installation, planting media and plant mix, irrigation, indoor lighting and safety considerations. It addressed critical areas an architect should look into when detailing and specifying a living wall at the early design stage.

Shedding light on the sustainable landscape topic was Nature Landscapes MD, Mr Michael Teh together with Elmich Director of Landscape Engineering Division, Mr Andy Chew. It received an overwhelming turnout of more than 120 architects looking for in-depth understanding of this proliferating vertical greenery trend to minimize carbon footprints of built environment.

Celebrating Nature's 30th Anniversary

Nature Landscapes marked its 30th Anniversary with a big celebration bash with its 500 over employees on 16 May 2011 at Garden Hub. It started with the challenge of getting our large fleet of vehicles parked and workers to assemble for photo-taking. All were delighted to soak in the exhilarating mood while receiving goodie bags and lucky draw tickets. MD Michael Teh gave an appreciation address followed by the Long Service Awards Ceremony, commemorated by cake blowing, to honour staff’s dedication and contribution over their 10 over years of service.

Everyone was treated to sumptuous spread of food, show times by very talented artists, games engaging and showing off our audience’s dancing flair. This special Nature celebration concluded with loads of lucky draw gifts given out in the form of TV, iPad, playstation, camera, electrical appliance and more. A memorable day with a nature essence no less.

How to Choose a Landscape Contractor

A well-designed and installed landscape adds considerable value to your home. Choosing the right design and contractor can determine the success or failure of this important investment. The following guidelines should be used when evaluating choices for your designer and landscape contractor.

1. Determine the scope of work for the project and which services you will expect from the designer and contractor. Determine also the areas to be landscaped and the works to be completed by the contractor. For ease and convenience, it is always more effective to select a company that offers a comprehensive and integrated landscape service . From the initial design stage to the final installation, from the hardscape to the softscape and to the all-important lightings and perhaps even an artwork or two.

2. Thoroughly investigate the company. How long has it been in business? Have the company's management systems been verified by an accredited ISO Certification Company? Question the level of qualification and, just as important, the amount of experience the relevant personnel have.

3. Does it have a good portfolio and references? One of the most reliable yardstick of gauging any company's competence is to assess its portfolio. The company should ideally possess an extensive portfolio covering a wide spectrum of works from resort hotels, condominiums to private residences. It is certainly more reassuring to know that your project manager has 'seen' bigger things and also understands the needs of a new house owner.
